Charlotte, NC funeral home and cremation

They say that laughter is the best medicine but when grief hits, the only thing you feel like doing is crying. It can be hard to get back to laughing, though if you think about it, it certainly would feel good when you are dealing with a Charlotte, NC funeral home and cremation for a loved one. When you go through the heavy burden of a laugh, remind yourself that laughter isn’t wrong. It can make you feel better and it can help you get through the rough times. There are plenty of times to cry when you are grieving, of course, but laughter is okay too. Here are some ways to help you laugh again, even if you feel like crying most of the time.

Meetings With Friends

There’s nothing like old friends when you are grieving. Allow yourself to go to lunch, meet for coffee, or have a movie night with your friends. Remember the good old days with them and allow your memories to bring laughter into your life. You weren’t always sunk in grief and you won’t always be in the future. Meeting up with friends gives you a chance to just be you again for a while.

Enjoy Your Children

Children grieve in different ways and they still need to run and play and be children for much of the day. Immerse yourself in their imaginary world of play and allow their sweet outlook to give you a break from your grief. Play tag, dolls, or whatever else they’re into and let yourself really get into the game. You might even chuckle when things take a humorous turn.

Listen To Uplifting Music

Turn on your favorite radio station and sing along to some of the more uplifting songs. You might hear songs that make you feel sentimental as well, but when you hear a song that makes you want to dance, go for it. Smile a little and enjoy music, wherever it might take you.

Watch Comedies

It’s hard not to laugh when your favorite comedy is on or there’s a comedian on TV telling jokes about their life. You don’t have to feel over the moon at such things, but even a little giggle can help bring you out of your grief for a short period of time.

When you are working with a Charlotte, NC funeral home and cremation service provider, you’re going to feel overwhelmed by your grief more often than not. But life goes on and your loved one would want you to keep living. Turn to laughter as your medicine during this difficult time. Let yourself cry when you need to but embrace laughter as a bright side of life as well. There’s nothing wrong with laughing with your friends over coffee.
